hey all, here is my first bow made from ash. its suppose to be a flat bow... its not quite finnished yet, i am still to sand it, which i am dreading :( ) so what do you think?? next i want to have a go at a tradional english longbow..

hey all, Im thinks about making a flat bow out of ash and am planning on heading out this weekend to find a stave... my question is, how long should you leave the stave to dry beofre you start carving? and how logn should the stave be?? Thanks, Mike

We used the use trangia all the time when going on expeditions with scouts, but since we have bought several or the MSR PocketRocket's, we have been usuing them instead. They are so much quicker and the scouts tend to be impacient. ;)

Im still in my teens myself. I got into bushcraft after joining my scout troop aged 10 and been going ever since. Bushcraft doesnt have an age limit and should be enjoyed by everyone. Practise is the key, get yourself a good knife and start with basic carving and fire lighting. If you enjoy...

If you just starting, I would go with birch. I always find its the easiest to work with.

Im guessing your talking about pine?? There is a reasonable tutorial here: http://www.wikihow.com/Tap-a-Pine-Tree I tend to look around for trees have been damaged, it comes out of the wounds and can be easily picked off as this is less harmful to the trees. Mike
