    If it's black round laces you want then I am sure you can get them from www.altberg.co.uk They don't do them online but supply them with all their boots; which some are high leg. I have found them to be very helpful. The laces are long, strong and have a little give in them. :)

    Handle preserver?

    Can anyone suggest an oil or other durable preserver(other than varnish) for treating/waterproofing a birch handle. I have tried veg oil, olive oil and boiled linseed oil, as soon as it gets wet the grain rises and the oil is gone. Cheers. :confused:

    Emma, Long thread! The mitts I bought were Dachstein from www.needlesports.com They cost about £16.00 Haven't got any windproofs, with silk inners these were ok. Wouldn't mind knowing where to get those leather mitts Abbe was on about. Could make some leather outer mitts??

    The book I got the recipe from is called The Dalesman Book Of Country Recipes; ISBN 0 85206 757 7 It was published in 1983, and has loads of weird and wonderful recipes and some of the more common ones still used. I'll give it a go any way and let you all know whether I kept it down! ;)
