    Oiling a blade

It depends on the coating, if it is phosphating or parkerising (as some K bars are), then it should be oiled. If it is powder coated (as some K bars are), then oil wont make any difference to the coated areas.

I send you a Surefire M600A and you send me a...

It is quite easy to use hand held, it comes with a normal clicky tailcap (as shown in the photos and specified), so you don't need to use the tape switch (which of course is not very useful off a weapon). Not everyone likes the Fenix interface, which with it's multiple modes, turbo mode, strobe...

Sorry, but saying that surefires are pointless in this context does rather trash my thread, which has elicited a couple of PMs so far, so although there haven't been any posts, my offer to trade hasn't been totally without merit. The post by C_Claycomb offered nothing at all except a round...

Thanks for posting that you have a bag but wont trade, that helps me a lot. The issue isn't actually buying the bag, it's buying it from somewhere prepared to ship it to New Zealand. The M600A is a very useful regulated LED light that is actually very handy for camping. It has moderate output...

    Camo Question

It's called ACU (All purpose Combat Uniform I think, possibly 'Army Combat Uniform'). And they are kidding themselves. I can honestly say it does not work in pine forrests, NZ native rain forrest or grassy farm land. It is a digital camo (as seems fashionable at present) but at a distance it...

    Camo Question

One word: Multicam. http://www.multicampattern.com/ Check out the little slide show that runs on the home page. It looks like it's a bit light, but in anything other than very dark green bush it works superbly. Even at night you just vanish wearing this stuff. Why the americans went for that...

What do you think of GPS units?

They are a useful tool, but like any tool you need to know how to use it, and most importantly to understand it's limitations. you cant expect it to be a magic bullet for solving all you navigation problems, and need to know how to assess the accuracy of the information you are getting from it.

    NZ Issue DPM Ventile smock.

Ok, here's my first attempt at using photobucket, hopefully it works! Here is an over all shot showing the smock: This is quite a nice detail on these Kiwi smocks, the buttons are 'hidden': This is the smock side by side with a reasonably new British SAS windproof, to give some comparison...
