Some thoughts on the Scandinavian Grind

Draven, Interesting observations. They seem to parallel my own findings, and mimic my likes or dislikes. I'm new here to B.C.U.K. But have been on the U.S. site for years. And I generally try to avoid such discussions. Because it is like Mods and Rockers. People like what they like. And...

Finnish Vihe Loue II Shelter , Its a tarp dude but not as we know it ,,,,

Yes, I know this is an old thread. And I hope my part in resurecting is allowed/accepted. But I see the one or the two as about perfect for what I do. I actually searched here recently. Didn't find much so I started a thread asking questions. This thread rocks. How do they handle snow...

    Vihe Vaellus Loue II Shelter??

Shindig, Thanks for all the feedback. It all makes good sense. I waffle between the one and the two. For just me, the one would be plenty. But for two or more people or inclement weather the Loue 2 would offer some worthwhile advantages. I almost pulled the trigger, but decided to wait until...

    Vihe Vaellus Loue II Shelter??

shindig, What made you choose the Loue 2 over the 1. Vertical walls or sheer size? I'm probably over thinking this. But I thought about one for most instances and adding another for times when more shelter is needed. But I still think the vertical wall of the 2 adds more than they take away...

    Mora Kansbol

I'll see what I can do. I currently have it mounted on my Mountainsmith Day Lumbar pack which has two rows of Mollie on the front. Funny about the pricing structure in different places. Over here, Ragnar's Ragweed forge has both the 2000 and the Kansbol listed for the same price $29.00. If...

Axe and/or saw, what do I not understand?

I agree with what others have said. Different things work for different people for different reasons. I find I can accomplish a lot with a small knife, small saw, and small axe.

    Mora Kansbol

Rather funny. I just received this knife this week. And I was coming over here to start a thread asking you folks what you thought of. It. But Corso beat me to the draw. Thank you sir! I have mine and like it. I also have a 2000, and I like that as well. It is a great all round user. As...

Study on Ritual wood burning in Iron Age Ireland.

Very interesting paper. I always love it when modern folks try to interpret what primordial folks were doing. If I'm cooking meat, I usually use cherry or apple. If I want a fire with not much smoke or popping, I use beech or ash. If I'm trying for coals in the morning, I go with...

    New from the Adirondacks

Hello Folks, I always enjoy checking in here to see the different ways people from other places do things. I have crossed paths with some on other forums and always threatened to join up over here. Since I have a new Ipad that doesn't crash every time I try, here I am. Hopefully, I can...
