I do not think that any cat lover will accept that others find them disgusting creatures.

Really?, would you like photographic evidence of a cat scat on a concrete path, it's just outside on the neighbours path, so yep, cats surely do bury their poo, like the one that was sitting on my lawn and the one on my Patio and the one just left sitting festering on the surface down in the veg patch.

Cats are 'dirty vermin'; really? Burying their poo? How many animals do that? Mink **** where they sleep - now that's dirty. Dogs take a dump whereever they feel like it and **** all over cars, trees, anything that is stationary - that's dirty.
'Introduced'? I think you'll find they are a native species, unlike the guinea pigs someone mentioned.
'Scratching my wife and children's faces'. Seriously? A cat came into your garden and attacked your wife and children, scratching their faces? Are you sure it wasn't the Dartmoor Puma?
I think I should be paid for keeping my cat and letting out at night. He catches 4-5 rats a week, that thrive in the rubbish outside the restaurants. The area would be overrun with rats without the local cats.
I think you need to re-read what I posted mate, you've completely misunderstood a clear and basic sentance.
The guinea pig 'someone mentioned' happened to be a docile and completely harmless family pet that was killed by someone elses pet!
and the exact reason why I'm sick of these unwelcome animals violating my private property and it's inhabitants! Clearly you don't see a problem with cats or their incapable, ignorant owners, my guess is you haven't had them kill or hurt anything you care about.
Bit extreme... I'd clout them with something, but wouldn't want to hurt or wound them. I'd feel terrible if I'd left a cat walking around, injured or with a pellet stuck under it's skin. It seems as though very few of us are cat fans here - doing something illegal is one thing, I think we've all broken the law in some way before and outside the forum, I'm sure some of us bend the rules quite often with things - but being cruel or sadistic is a completely different matter.
The thing is, as long as there are people who own cats, there'll always be this problem. You can control it sometimes to an extent, but never really stop it.
I disagree - in Canada cats are treated like dogs and walked on leads, carefully controlled. Doing the same in this country would solve a great deal of the issues on the table here.
It'll be a hard job to convince several hundred thousand cat dappy folk well and truly set in there ways.
Very odd - I've never owned a cat that didn't bury it's poo. I've seen cats get very distressed when they couldn't find soil deep enough to bury poop.
Mine found mole-hills so useful in the fields - scratch off the top and their is a nice little hole to poop down.
Sounds like you live somewhere that is concreted and tarmaced until there is hardly any soil left. If you think cats don't prefer to bury their poo then I suspect you are a townie born and bred.
I'm not sentimental about animals - I grew up on a farm, with a father who wouldn't hesitate to put down an aggressive dog, kill the excessive kittens (which was my job when I became older).
But if someone shot my cat because they didn't like it crossing their lawn, they would find their rifle shoved where the sun didn't shine.
Have to start somewhere... you could say that about so many things - doesn't mean it isn't worth trying. Didn't take long to get people wearing seatbelts.
Interesting - what right does your cat have to be on my lawn - why don't you know where your cat is etc....
If you can't control your pet it shouldn't be a pet.

Although you don't have a right to shoot dogs either. People have mentioned shooting with air rifles and BB guns.
The suggestion of using a whistling nerf gun was sensible tho'.
exactly, but even they did.. cat owners wouldn't know about because their cats aren't kept indoors like they should be.
Cats around here crap everywhere, be it concrete or soil. So assuming some of us are 'townies born and bred' because other peoples cats like to be creative where to deficate is stupid.
Gah.. any more tips worth trying fella's? I'm gona try cd's, coffee and maybe some cirtus peels..

Quite the opposite in fact, im surrounded by the South Downs National Park on three sides, the back garden backs on to a Hay Meadow at the moment, but that will soon be strip grazed by the Horses, beyond that is a field full of Maize, the Field to West had Barley in it until a few weeks back and has now been sown with feed beet for the beef cattle, the field to the North is Barley and beyond that in all directions is glorious countryside, with the exception to the East which is housing, my garden and those of my neighbours are cultivated for fruit and veg.
I too grew up on a Farm and continue to do work on that farm to this day, which coincidentaly my father and grand father also worked on, so third generation farm worker and living and working in the countryside to this very day hardly consitutes being a townie, so I take your last comment as being rather pedantic and down right rude considering you dont know me or the area in which i grew up and live, i look forward to receiving your apology.

There's nothing wrong with using a BB gun, providing it is of the airsoft variety. People shoot each other with them for fun and I myself have been shot with them on many occassions. It's worse on skin than it is skin+fur too.
Cats have less rights than dogs for a reason - because they're free roaming. Hence why if you run over a cat, you don't have to report it. Not saying that I'm going to run any over on purpose though.
Really? I know there are cultural differences between here and there but I didn't realize there were species differences as well; ALL domestic cats I've ever seen bury their crap.

legal advice seems to be lion poo, super soaker of water, take them to RSPCA as strays or perhaps track them to their homes and speak to the owners
