Two day trip to local woodland by ultimate@alpine Comment (0)

With kit packed we were off on the 3hr walk it took to get there. Me and my brother as kids used to go every weekend to camp.

we found our spot and started to collect fire wood, kindling and tinder in the form of birch bark shredings. back to camp we put up the tarps and i put up my hammock whilst my brother made a bed of furn branches.

Then came the fire split logs down then  birch bark layer for the shreded birch bark tinder. One strike on my fire stick and fire was lit

Blogs and blogging

I don't know.  You start out on a journey and you don't always know where you are going.   3 days in, and a third entry in my blog and what to you know?  I get round to finding out what a blog is.  I now know it is a "web log".  I guess that means a regular log on the web.  Well, that sounds like what I am doing at the moment!  So, may be I have got something right.

Fire, fire, fire

My FIRST ever blog by Andy2112 Comment (0)

Hello folks,

This is my first ever blog and a newcomer to bushcraft.  Oh, i do the normal camping thing and have done for many years but watching "you know who" on tv made me want to have a go.  To date i have not done the deed ( it's hard to take my 3 and half year old son into the woods) but i have took him camping this year and last (and he loved it), so there's another one to add to the ranks when he's old enough.
