A day in the garden by British Red Comment (0)

Aquiligia

Had a day in the garden today. Why? Well, I'll be off all next week and prefer the woods to myself. So, today was one for potting on peppers, planting out beans, transplanting seed grown shallots etc.

Also the chance to appreciate the flowers. I'm a lazy gardener and so use self seeders and perennials most of the time. I show my age in my

First post by Pablo Comment (2)

Well, let's see how this all works. I've already got quite an extensive blog at www.pablo475.blogspot.com so these entries will be quite short. Great idea though. It's a great way of seeing what other people are up to.

Today was archery practice day. I'm going to take the Korean bow to the spring bushmoot so I wanted to do a little practice. Have a look at the video posted on the blog site.

I finished the day by

20th May 07 by Toddy Comment (0)

Trying to pack; I'm heading up to Inverness to go to work on Skye tomorrow. My car is too small for everything including the quatrain  and lances from Bothwell castle :-/ as well. I'm doing a Bronze and Iron Age activity series for Historic Scotland and I've got firelighting, breadmaking, basketry, fresh foraging and pottery making stuff to take too, and a burned bowl for the kids to scrape out .....it's a messy job but someone has to do it :-))

My garden is growing

Night out hunting by spamel Comment (0)

I soent last night out hunting with Ratbag, we stalked a few hares and tried to avoid the farmers pigs that were very interested in us!

We saw a rabbit whilst we were coming up over the hill, Ratbag got an opportunity to try his new bipod out and got a good clean shot off, taking the rabbit down.  As he moved forward to ensure the rabbit was dead, I brought his rifle up and we left the rabbit on the fence out of the way of the foxes!

We moved further up the hill where

Shave Horses and Whingeing about work by bent-stick Comment (2)

First of all let me say what a good idea this is and I hope people take it up. On the other hand I hope it doesn't detract from the forums because they are a great source of info.

I'm going to try to keep you up to date with what I'm doing.

This weekend I'm desperately trying to get ready for a bowmaking course with Forest Knights on 3rd June. I have ash and elm seasoning up against my bookcase and yesterday I made a shave horse from some 150x47x3000 carcassing

Today I have mostly been ...drying herbs by British Red Comment (3)

Bee on alium

Not really "bushcrafty" - although it will be when I build a solar dehydrator shortly. Anyways.....

There's two ways to dry - fast and slow. Fast implies a dehydrator, slow means air drying. I've shown both here. For a dehydrator I've shown my electrically powered model. If you would like to see a solar model, I'll do a thread on that too - when I've built it!

Well, to show how to dry herbs, lets see whats fresh

I grow loads of Rosemary. Its great

A good day by Tony Comment (1)

Been another long day but it's been worth it.  The site is up and running now after being completely switched over from the old one and i've recieved some great feedback that's both encouraging and helpful, it's been great seeing hundreds of people on here all all having a great experience.

Tomorrow it's my boys' bithday and I think i'm as exited for him getting his new tarp and hammock as he would be f he knew, he's bound to want to sleep out in it

A time for every purpose by British Red Comment (7)

Well, as some of you know I've decided to take a six month sabbatical from work to "rest up" after some illness for both me and BB.

Highly fortuitous that the blog is available today - my last day at work! I hope you will look in and comment occasionally as I post a few more pictures and discuss whatever is on my mind

Now it is getting early by Tony Comment (0)

It is now 4am and the work on the new site has nearly finished for the night, go live has been moved to Sat due to some technical difficulties which i have to say is a right pain, although these things always happen.

The new site is looking good which is excellent, it has been a steady slog over the years but it is becoming what I first envisaged back in 2002, the site is going to be fantastic.

Right, time to go home I think, get some rest and get back to it tomorrow.
