| Fallkniven F1 knife |

I have read thousands of gear reviews over the years, I have even made some purchases as a result of them. To me it is curious that we often shell-out our hard-earned cash on the say-so of a complete stranger who was lent that item for a weekend. In that time do you really think anyone could really assess a product properly?
Knife reviews often involve cutting cardboard & sharpening colouring pencils and other realistic tests likely to be encountered in the 'boonies'.
2) Open top “dangler” sheath, a classic friction-fit sheath with an extended loop (carried below the belt) so that it does not interfere with a rucksack waist belt. 3) Kydex, this one costs extra, but is ideal for hard use, damp environments. IN USE The F1 has a very solid feel about it (like it’s prepared for anything) and is easy to use. In the last few years it has been used for most tasks, I have carved spoons & noggins with it, shaved “fuzz-sticks, split kindling, carved bow-drill sets, gutted trout, skinned rabbits, dressed a shoulder of lamb, boned-out a haunch of venison, used it with a fire-steel to light hundreds of fires, made cordage, cut leather thongs and prepared quite few meals. This is a high quality, medium sized, highly practical blade that will cost you half the price of most “custom” knives. The knife is not as light as some and is better suited to being carried on a belt (unless you have the neck of the governor of California). All in all, there may be better knives for carving wood or dressing game, but this knife will tackle any task you put in front of it (without exception). In the last four years my only criticism of the F1 is that it looks a little too practical sometimes, the black Thermorun handle would be so improved by the warmth of a real wooden handle ( I must be going “soft” with old age), but now those clever people at Fallkniven have decided to sell the F1 in “blade-only” format, so with a little help from Johnny & Drew at Trek-Direct (superb service as always lads) and quite a bit of elbow grease I now have my very own 'F1 Tree-hugger' limited edition! I do agree. The F1 has been my working horse for several years in the service. It is defently one of the prime models that Fallkniven has.
I bought the F1 after reading several reviews and have found it to be excellent for my needs. I have the leather fold over sheath and find it again an excellent well made sheath. The knife is with me on every occassion when in woodland, camping, canoeing and the like. It throws sparks well, is great for most odd jobs and highly robust. The edge is good and easy for my very poor sharpening abilities to keep a good edge on! I have the black blade version, for no other reason than I like it! The price was reasonable so I am happy to use/abuse it without thinking of how much it cost as well! Overall a superb all rounder that will be with me for many years to come.
I have got one of these and found that it handled everything that my limited abilitis could throw at it. I even managed to make a genuine featherstick for the first time!!! I have mine in a handmade sheath that's got a firesteel and a Fallkniven DC3 stone tucked away. I wouldn't swap mine for anything else.
Of all the blades in my draw this is the one I reach for every time. Balance and feel is very very good. It is equally at home slicing tomatoes in camp or taking down a willow for cordage on a tramp. Fires up my spark stick a treat. Love it!!
I have the Fallkniven F1 and wrote a review of it a little while back. So far it's been an excellent blade. I use it to cut wood, spark my firelighter, and slice through veggies on the trail (though not necessarily in that order). http://www.gonzopia.com/outdoors/fallkniven-f1-pilot-survival-knife/
i wanna see your tree hugger version

How many hats are guaranteed for life with a no quibble agreement? The

| Gerber Multitool (02.06.2008) |
The jungle is a harsh environment for such an item because the tool was
wet or the majority of the time. However, it stood up very well with
little sign of rusting or corrosion even after coming back and allowing
it to stand for a while.

Sabre 45 is probably the rucksack that others are marked against in the bushcraft market. I was very interested to see what all the hype was about and if the real thing lived up to it all! |

The only thing that change in the looks of the knife is the lamination line on the blade and that it is even stronger.
The review is valid for the new laminated F1 as well as for the really early flatgrind F1s.
Said that I must agree with the review, it is a great knife and I bring it along almost everyday.
