I do not know if others have tried this product, but when your kit is
too wet for friction firelighting, there is no silver birch around and
your cotton wool is wet, this is a sure fire way to get a fire going

Now foraging in the hedgerow for your meal is all well and good, but some of us poor bushcrafters are novices at this art and would surely starve if this was our only source of food, so rely on taking sustenance with us on bushcrafting/camping/hiking and other field trips. Not that this means we have to eat poorly, even on trips so long that fresh ingredients to our meals are not an option. Along with my famous (?!) bannock mix, pouched meals are a favourite option.

The mess tin is a solid stainless steel and relatively lightweight cooking vessel. It comes with a well fitting lid, which is a bonus compared with the old aluminium version which came without a lid. It saves precious fuel and makes your water (or whatever you are preparing in it) come to a boil significantly faster.
