A little explanation by Ogri the trog Comment (2)

Hi All, the last few months have been on the darker side of enjoyable. At first, the idea of having no job and being free to do as I pleased was exciting and a bit of an adventure. However, as time progressed the darkness slowly but surely closed in and it carried my normally jolly character with it. So I haven't been the pleasantest of people to be around lately - and sadly those who have suffered the most have been my family. Hence I've not been adding to my blog as a means of steering

In Front and Behind the Lens, Ray Mears in Aberystwyth by Ogri the trog Comment (1)

Many of you are probably fully aware of the current tour that Mr Mears is doing. A pictorial journey through his time spent making films with the BBC.

I first heard about the tour through the forum, and within minutes I was on the phone to Aber's Art Centre trying to book tickets. It seems I was ahead of the game as they were nowhere near to being able to market the tickets as they barely knew of the event themselves.  It didn't take too long to get things sorted out and I

Oh my, where does the time go! by Ogri the trog Comment (0)

This is getting tedious, I finish writing one entry and then think - right its time to get on wioth something else. Then before I have time to turn around, its time to make another entry again.

My search for work is becomeing monotonous in the extreme - though I have to show willing for those who throw my some coins every fortnight.

I mentioned a while agao about becomeing self employed - well that, along with its plans and descissions is keeping my brain active for now. The good

New plan by Ogri the trog Comment (3)

Rightho, I've had a think and I guess that it'd be a lot more fluid to see this blog thingy as a weekly or fortnightly update on what is going on around here. There may well be exciting things happening some days but more often than not, its the slow steady progress that I'll be reporting.

Recent events have gone as well as could be expected and the Christening comes up this weekend - after that the diary settles into a more leisurely pace, so I'm hoping to get things done around the house.

I had a good long chat with someone who is close to us all on the forum, and it has inspired a few ideas - I just need to think them through and see if the possible course of action is

Another short break.... by Ogri the trog Comment (0)

...But this time I feel there has been a reasonable excuse. After a short illness amounting to a few weeks, my grandmother has died the day after her 94th birthday. She spent a while in a hospital that was embarrassingly poor at caring for her - leaving most of her daily car to my elderly Aunt and a family friend. It was imporant to the family that she was taken home to pass on, back to the house where she was born back in 1913, which she did last week. So yesterday was her funeral, a very well

Canoeing day by Ogri the trog Comment (0)

Wow what a fantastic day. Our town is running a festival of summer through a few local sporting venues, involving all sorts of stuff - birdwatching, archery, wlaks etc. anyway Troglet2 and I signed up for a canoe expedition. The group of about 20, met up at tenish and was given a safety brief etc and kitted out for the day on the Clywedog Reservoir. We paddled into the prevailing wind for about an hour and a half before beaching up and lighting a barbeque. We were itching to get amongst the fire

Once again it has been a while since....... by Ogri the trog Comment (1)

..... I last put some stuff up here.

The Summer Moot was another outstanding success, and I was more that a little pleased to be able to pay a tiny bit back by co-hosting the Rabbit Preperation session. Buckshot Mark reminded me yet again that we occupy an argueably priveledged position, in that we are able to see the entire food chain from field to table. Whereas a lot of folk have no experience of the lead-up that exists before the plastic wrapped packages that appear on the shelves of

Oops thats another week gone by Ogri the trog Comment (1)

Whoops , sorry folks, I had intended to get here a bit more often than I have been. Thought it might be a good place to air some of my feelings of being unemployed, searching for jobs and being a proper family man again. Not to worry, we've been busy attending to domestic neccessities - especially now that we're approaching the end of the school year.

As for home, the grass is growing so fast you can watch it, but it has been so wet that I can't get out to cut it. The pony is

Now its official by Ogri the trog Comment (0)

Further to my ramblings of a few days ago. I'm now officially recognised as unemployed - its a bit new for me as I think I've only been not-working for four days since I left school - scary eh! Didn't get the job mentioned a few posts ago - not overly worried, something will come up when the time is right.

I said before leaving work that idealy I'd like to take a few weeks off to pay back the children for being a bear with a sore head. I worked permanent night shifts for

Joining the ranks of the temporarily unemployed by Ogri the trog Comment (1)

So this is what its like, not to have a job. Feels pretty similar to being "Off shift" at the moment - that'll probably change over the next few weeks. Friday night was my last shift in work before getting my redundancy - it had been a long time coming and I was starting to resent the place, though I won't bore the reader with my rantings on that subject.

It would be nice to think that I could take a few weeks, even months, off work to get some bits sorted around
