Boy, time flies. The summer seems to be on its last legs, the nights are drawing in and there’s a bite in the air, well there is here in Wales!

I’ve been talking to people about the great summer they’ve had and all the fantastic things they’ve got up to, from trekking around the world to making cordage in front of the TV, there’s so much we can do, it always helps me realise what an exciting world we live in. Especially when Erin, my 2 year old daughter, comes in looking like a blackcurrant because she’s been up the lane munching on blackberries, I’m sure someone keeps restocking the bushes just for her!

Issue 3 of the magazine is out at the end of this week, it’s bumper packed as usual with articles ranging from food to navigation and canoeing to pheasants, there’s something for everyone including pull out pages for a Moon compass that you can make in the comfort of your own home. There’s also the opportunity to win a Gränsfor Bruks Hunters axe signed by Mors Kochanski. If you’ve not ordered yours yet, pop to the front page of the website for directions on how to order.

We’re looking into having a Bushcraft UK get together this year and we’ll get some dates up as soon as we can, keep an eye on the news section for more information on this and other upcoming events.

If you get the opportunity it will be well worth checking out the Survival Challenge being run by The Guide Dogs Association in conjunction with Woodsmoke. See below for more information.

We also want to hear more from you the members, what you’ve been up to and where you’ve been, thoughts on articles in the magazine (we’re starting a readers page in the next issue) send us pictures, letters, emails and we’ll get some of them published, there might even be a prize for the star letter!

Look after yourselves
