DD Hammocks 3mx4.5m tarp review by Chainsaw Comment (1)
Not another bloomin' tarp review!  This one is a wee bit of a scoop though. End of last year, I was speaking to Nick at DD hammocks about a big 4.5mx3m and in the spring, Nick came up with a prototype and sent it out to me for review after he'd had a go with it.

I need to declare an interest here, Nick kindly let me keep the tarp after reviewing it, it's a prototype, not production quality as the corner loops are too short (they will be longer when the pukka one comes

Bushcraft at Glastonbury Festival by undercurrents Comment (0)
The time has come and we finally have the A-Z of Bushcraft DVDs back from the duplicators. To launch it we have a novel idea to beat the recession by giving them away for free!

We will launch the DVD during the Glastonbury festival next week.

We have an audience of more than 1 million for the online video series about woodland skills, filmed on the Gower peninsula. The series, “A-Z of Bushcraft”, has proved such a big hit, that we have decided to release the

how to demonstrate bushcraft to the public. by RAPPLEBY2000 Comment (1)

Just some hints on bushcraft displays, I've been doing them for around 4 years now.

I'm doing demo's for my local council this year and the amount of red tape is laughable, but to give you an idea what to expect if working with your council/school etc. (I should point out, this is just Demo to watch no hands on stuff)

Some tips for teaching friction firelighting to the public:

Swedish Trangia Stove by DaveyBushBaby Comment (0)

Just got my stove today and I am very impressed by how compact yet effective it is. I haven't actually cooked in it yet as it's not so easy to find methlated spirits for the burner. Overall though it seems like a sturdy wee piece of kit and I look forward to using it.

Hey all.

Scrap gas cylinder made into open vented boiler. by Fred123 Comment (6)

I was expecting our old multifuel bolier to give up (heat exchanger split) I decided to knock up a subsitute from a gas cylinder. The results were surprisingly good. Here's a couple of photos below of it. This gas cylinder boiler heats 4 rads (aprox 30,000 BTUs plus stores 180 litres in the the hot water cylider which gives ample hot water in the house. It burns wood or smokless coal. It's mostly made from scrap.  Although it draws well, for safety reasons I fitted a glass

First handling project by Chainsaw Comment (2)

Well been accumulating some bits over the last few months and am just about to start my next 1st timer project, putting a handle on a knife.  In this case it's a cracking Mick Spain bushie, blade 105mm x 28mm Tang 115mm x 3mm in 01.  Handle will be some yew I had in the garage for a year or two.  I think I'm more worried about messing up Micks blade than anything but I suppose I can always strip it back again.  This is going to be my main user so it needs to be functional
