Heck, it's been an age since I wrote on here, the time just flies by. It's been a busy year though with site changes, moving servers, new baby (Called Jenna, she's lovely) moved house, converted the garage and all sorts of other things.
I'm excited by spring really getting on, summer starting to get a hold and the world getting really green, it seems like just a few days ago that the trees were still bare and now they're alive again with leaves popping out all over the place :-) I just need to get out now and enjoy it more, although I’ve got this chest infection thing that’s a right pain, hopefully it will be over soon and I’ll get out. I saw that John and Greg had been out down the road from me, I might join them next time.
In my previous blog I mentioned that we had got a new canoe, but it didn’t work out because it bent where it shouldn’t so it went back and we swapped it for an Old Town Tripper XL, which is a great canoe, it’s not the same, especially weight wise (105lb v 60lb) but it’s tough as old nails and it fits the family in, although we’ve only had it on the canal so far and we had great fun getting blown around :-) That’s the other thing that I want to do this year – get out canoeing.
I’m reviewing some kit from Pinewood Forge at the moment, I’ll get the full review up on the site in the near future but I’ll say now that they’re lovely. Handmade Hook knife with a Curley maple handle and a Slojd knife with a birds-eye maple handle. More on that soon.
The organisation for the BushMoot is coming on, there’s loads going on this year, we’ve simplified the workshop schedule so that it’s easier to get to things. I need to go down to the site again and do some more planning, time consuming stuff though so it’s been put off till next week. I’m excited to have Mors again and we’ve got some other visitors from Canada that are going to be running workshops. It’s going to be good to see old friends and make new ones.
The site is coming on, we’re looking to make some changes and it’s been great having feedback from people on the site, it really helps. We are planning on setting up more benefits for the full members and doing some more site revisions over the coming months, I also need to get the newsletter sent out again on a regular basis, I’ve had loads of people asking about that.
Right, I think that’s kick started me back into the blog, it would be great to read about what others are doing, if you read this start your own ;-) more from me later …
