New start on blog! by w00dsmoke

Hi again folks, it's been a while since starting this blog and I guess it was started with good intentions and abandoned! Well back on track again. I've been very busy over the winter with work and I've had a few very frightening though debilitating, thankfully not life threatening health issues that have made me sit up and take stock of everything, hence the wee break. A stomach bleed-the modern condition my doc calls it...and recurrent laberynthitis a very frightening vertigoinducing condition cassed by a vial infection in the inner ear. Combined these have severely curtailed my outings this winter although I've had a few good experiences.

My other half has really started taking an interest in bushcrafty things and this photo was taken after only a short walk with her of about an hour and a half from the road but with magnificant views North overlooking the heart of the Trossachs. (I got married only a few hundred meters from this spot!)

At other times when I've been restricted in mobility, I've carved a few spoons, this one carved and burnt, to look like a swanshead...allegedlyspoon

And even wet forming a sheath or two...

I've recently returned from a weeks break in a remote log cabin on Loch Aweside and what an experience that was. My other half and I decided a break was due so off we went and did absolutley nothing but woodland walks in the rain for a week. The weather was the usual west coast rain, but the fresh air and storms did wonders for my head and inspired me with a new drive to get well soon and return to my usual habitat outside work!

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for continuing to contribute to BCUK and to Tony and his team for making it possible, it has done nothing except inspire my wife, me and my family to get out more and to try new things. And when things have been dark in midwinter, I find a huge inspiration here.

 Cheers folks
