| Wooden it be nice.... by craven | ||
wouldn't it be nice if a whole load of us normal bushcrafters got together a bought some land? just think, go out when u like for free, after the initial cost wouldn't think that there would be to much outgoing, protect the enviroment from being built on and the land would be ours, if you got enough people interested you could by more and expand so that you had a choice of woodland and pasture to explore, obviously land doesn't come cheep, but if you had say 20 or so people interestedin your area, and they could all stump up about a grand, well then u got yourself a wood! for ever!

Hi Craven
This idea has been tried before - see the Bushcraft Education Society website. Most of the members there are either current or past members on this site.
I believe they did end up buying a piece of land up near Manchester, I think they still have it. Don't know if they have any plans to purchase any more plots though. I believe there was quite a lot of friction between the original purchase group over how the land was to be used, and wether non members would be charged entry fees.
If you want to take this further - and in principle I think its a great idea - then it would be worthwhile getting interested parties together to discuss ground rules etc, just so everyone knows exactly what their getting into. Trying to sort things out after a plot is purchased may be tricky.
Good luck and I'll keep an eye out for developments.
