Is there anybody out there ?

 Cramp balls or King Alfreds cakes, i know what they look like but where are they ?  Been to some woods locally with loads of Silver Birch in but did not see any.  Am i going the wrong time of year ?  Help !!!!!

Also, has anyone got any views, etc on the Helle knives ?, had one for Crimbo.

Cramp balls are a very hard to find and are a bit special if you can find them, but you can certainly find king alfred cakes on any birch with various colours of white, grey brown and black they tend to be more readily available on felled birch trees.Just keep looking mate.

They usually grow on older Ash trees (25 yers ) within 30ft of water (stream, pond or lake). I have also found them on old fence posts along the Thames.

There are loads on ash tree's especially fallen branches and also found on oakin the new forrest, i have found the isle of wieght has hundreds of them on there ash trees very easy to get a load there.
