Hammocks

Hi, I have just joined the site... today! I recently went on a trip to Canada and did some canoe tripping in Algonquin National Park. I took a hammock and tarp instead of a tent and got on really well with it. It takes a bit of getting used to as you feel much more exposed.. especially with bears about. The hammock was amazingly comfortable and once I got used to it I slept very well indeed. Check out Just Geoff's Hiking page - put it into Google. There are load of great tips there. My Thermarest got a puncture towards the end of the trip and I became very cold.. take a repair kit or use a foam matt or ideally and underquilt (on the outside of the hammock). My complete hammock/tarp/bugnet setup weighs just under 1kg and cost me about £50. Top value. Never want to sleep in a tent again!! smilies/grin.gif
