| Slinging in the rain by mob257774 | ||
Horrible day today, so I stayed indoors and played with rope. Practiced the four plait from RM book, figured out how to splice the end into a loop, and promptly made myself a bracelet. I was so impressed that I decided I needed a more tricky project. I have visited "slinging.org" in the past, and fancied a pop at making a braided sling. There are instructions for different types on the site, and I ended up with a modified version of the "Sierra Nevada" sling.I thought It looked quite good.
By now it was dark. I had watched some of the instructional videos on the site, and wanted to give my new toy a whirl, but how?
The answer was simple- socks, or rather, sock. A trainer sock, knotted, has proved to be a perfect indoor sling projectile. I think I have learned enough to use the sling outdoors without being in too much danger of bashing the back of my head in. Tomorrow, I hope to see if I am right.
