| Hammock A-OK by Old Skool Scout | ||
Yesterday i cooked my freeze-dried food for the first time. I did this on woodfire, using my billy can. The Hungarian Goulash tasted real good I must say. Immediately afterwords I made a bannock. I turned out real good. I did however forget to put in the raisins. I didn't actually need to bring those cause there are enough berries around.
After that I finally managed to get the hammock right, even the mosquito net.
I then visited program house to get some information. Martin, the patrol leader and an old friend of mine, promised to help me upload my movies. There was no time for that yet however.
I then got permission by the campleader, Knochen, to do old the things I had planned to do.
On my way back to camp I plucked some camomile to brew some tea with. I also found some berries to put in the morning porridge.
Back at camp i brewed some tea, sharpened my knive and then went to bed.
This morning I wanted to go to the raising of the flag ceremony at 8. I didn't make it however since it took me too long to make the fire necessary for my porridge and coffee. There was too much wind I guess. Finally I got it going by using some birch bark and resin. The resin was really good stuff!
After that I did my dishes, bathed and washed my hair ... in the sea :-) The sun was up and I had some cover from the wind so it was really nice.
After that I took down my camp cause I had decided to move to the northern windshelter. The campleader told me the day earlier that I would get kinda busy at the eastern windshelter in a couple off days. The northern windshelter should be the most quiet.
I then went to Program and did some handicrafts. I decided I needed a small leather bag to put all my stuff in to make fire. "Eldpåse" as they say in Swedish.
