Once again it has been a while since....... by Ogri the trog

..... I last put some stuff up here.

The Summer Moot was another outstanding success, and I was more that a little pleased to be able to pay a tiny bit back by co-hosting the Rabbit Preperation session. Buckshot Mark reminded me yet again that we occupy an argueably priveledged position, in that we are able to see the entire food chain from field to table. Whereas a lot of folk have no experience of the lead-up that exists before the plastic wrapped packages that appear on the shelves ofsupermarkets.

Even as the packing of the car prior to the moot, a rollercoaster of emotional highs and lows was unfolding for a very good friend of mine. I'm not going to publicly air his story but I would like to announce my support for him, his good lady and their new family - if theres anything to be done mate, you know who to ask.

The moot once again filled me with ideas of things to make and modify and some of the successfull things might make it as far as the forum pages, but for now some projects include - modifying my Ogripod into a more versatile hammock pod/underblanket, more knife projects and "billycans from biscuit tins".

Something else that I was reminded of at the end of the moot, at the wrap-up session. It was mentioned that the community spirit was a great thing at the camp, with folk able to leave posessions in the knowledge that they would be safe until the owners return. I am probably one of the few people on the forum for whom this is a normal way of living - something that I remember from forty years ago in the town where I was born, where crime felt non-existant and a mans property was safe at all times. The community spirit is special at a big moot, and I hope it continues to be the pride of our community.

OK folks, that ought to do for now, I'll post more in a short while and hopefully be able to post pictures of the projects as they progress.

Ogri,
I came in just after the session started, so I didn;t know who you were. But you did a fine job informing us all about rabbit skinning, especially about the deseases. So I'd like to say thanks for your efforts.
Pablo.
