Yesterday I left at 5 AM to make it to Vässarö, Sweden for the Scouting's Sunrise ceremony. It was a tiresome journey but I was in time to set up my camp before the official supper. The last bus to Vässarö I sat next to a very Old Skool Scout indeed. He had joined scouting 75 years ago and was more ore less responsible for the fact Vässarö was a scout island now. He had also undertaken some bushcraft activities with his scouts. He even introduced a "Vildmark"badge (=Bushcraft) in the fifties! His scoutname was Niså, if I got that right.
The supper was astonishing. The staff had again done there upperbest to everyone's liking. Hence scouting was founded by a Brit, they had prepared all British food. As a dessert, we were treated with cream tea and scones :-)
As I expected I've already met a lot of people I came to know here during the previous years, including a British scout.
I managed to spent the night in my hammock but I definitly need to work on it. Especially the mosquito net is posing some problems. I camped near the sea so I can take (as I did this morning) a cold dip to wake up every morning.
Scouting's Sunrise was really nice. All the scouts gathered at 04:15 on the eastern clips and watched the sunrise. After that we all renewed our Scout's Promise.
What's on today: fixing hammock, making sure my order of a crooked knive gets here, see to it that my movies get online, cook on a campfire, make some fresh camille tea ...
