| Hello from Alaska by Chuck | ||
Hello from the land of two seasons-'skeeters and snow. Since this is my first maybe I should tell a little about me. I live on a remote homestead in Alaska. We got it through the states last homestead lottery in 1995 and proved up on it just like it was in the old days. We try to live a subsistence lifestyle as much as possible. For income I work as a seasonal guide, run a trapline, and do some freelance writing for homestead skills magazines. We also have an on-line magazine on those samelines.
This will probably be a very eclectic blog although focused on our lives here on our homestead. The season will determine where we go with it. Summer is gardening and building. Fall is harvesting, hunting, and guiding. Winter in firewood, trapping, homeschooling. Spring is getting the garden ready, march while the snow is at it's best is when I haul logs for firewood and building. Late spring is bear hunting.
Hopefully our lifestyle will be of interest to some of you and maybe helpful. I'll try to throw in a few pictures on occasion.

Sounds like you have a great life going for you all there, I’m very envious of you. And what luck winning the homestead in a lottery!
Looking forward to hearing more from you!
Best regards,
Paul.
