Well hi all, I should really have introduced myself in the forums but I thought I'd do it here first.
My real name is Alan and I live in central Scotland, sort of between Falkirk and Stirling so tons of lovely country within about an hours drive, it's just a shame I don't get to see as much of it as I'd like!
I've sort of called this blog the adventures of a newbie as I'm just starting out and have yet to get out there as I'm still collecting the bits and pieces I'll need to survive a night especially in the current 'summer' weather we're having.
I'm married with a couple of great kids and thankfully they like bushcraft and camping too but not quite as basic as I do! We usually manage about 2 or 3 camping trips per year with the family although this year we've done zero as her indoors has had a wee op on her foot so we're kind of stuck. Last year we were down in Berwick, over in Culzean Castle

and finally up at Gairloch, we're pitched on the right and as you can see, we don't travel light when the family are camping!

Gairloch was a midgie hell as evidenced by my wife's lower back. We arrived on a warm balmy evening and started to pitch up thinking we'd beat the midgies... uh huh!! Hmm I wonder if my wife will mind me putting piccies of her butt on the internet....
But this is really what we came for, a brisk wind and this kind of view!!

Anyways first one done just to say Hi, the next one will be a 'wee' list of kit. Probably like most of us I'm a bit of a kit monster!
Cheers,
Alan

Gorgeous scenery but the photo of the midge bites look a bit too painful!
