I've been a bit busy lately, haven't had much time to log on let alone write my blog, but here's an update..

 Been trying my smoker out, it's currently smoking some mackeral fillets, and seems to be going quite well, nice and slow, with a little charcoal fire smoldering with alder chips on top! Should be nice and tasty!!

Thanks to Rommol for the tips, I like the idea of the damp potatoe sack! and would be keen to know a bit more about the ale method??

 Also to Peter_wheat, I found my drum along the coast nearby, not sure what was in it, but as long as you give it a good burn out, it's fine. One place i saw a load of drums recently was at my local garage, may be a place to scrounge one from?? Whereabouts are you Peter, anywhere near the coast?

 Apart from smoking stuff, I've also been making a garden chair for my neice, I'll pop some pictures up a bit later on...

 That'll do for now I'll add some more later.
