Joining the ranks of the temporarily unemployed by Ogri the trog

So this is what its like, not to have a job. Feels pretty similar to being "Off shift" at the moment - that'll probably change over the next few weeks. Friday night was my last shift in work before getting my redundancy - it had been a long time coming and I was starting to resent the place, though I won't bore the reader with my rantings on that subject.

It would be nice to think that I could take a few weeks, even months, off work to get some bits sorted around the house that I've been putting off. In reality, I'll have to chase any work that comes along, though childminding and other considerations need to be accounted for. I owe my children some payback, as nine years of permanent nightshifts often saw me being snappy with them through tiredness, so some time over the summer doing family outings and activities is a must.

As to the more mundane reporting, we're getting some decent rain for late June - its keeping the well topped up so I will never complain about that. Last year, we got back from the summer Bushmoot to find that the well was dry and had to eke an existance for about five weeks before sufficient rain refilled it. Sumer rain is a double edged sword though, too heavy and surface water contaminates the well giving us green/grey/brown water in the house, whereas too little and we end up thirsty. But for now we have full water butts - about five tons of stored rainwater, and a full well - lets hope we can last the rest of the summer.
