Hi there by w00dsmoke

Hi there folks,

(For those who don't know me a little about me first), I'm wOOdsmoke. I'm a 38 year old guy (or as my good wife calls me...a big old grumpy xxxxr  from XXXX!) :-) This me below... (follow the link if it works!)

I live in a crazy wild concrete city and have done for the last two years. this is the first time I've lived in such a place since I was a a student. It is destroying me. I have worked in forestry, self employed fencer, dyker, sprayer, feller, countryside ranger, reserve officer, deer farmer, drugs worker, youth worker, community worker, and now I work with damaged children. I've helped run various wildlife charities and have spent a considerable number of years studying and  working with mammals. From woodcraft to concrete craft!

So today I'm having  a break from concrete craft and trying out this new blog on bushcraft uk. Hopefully I'll sus it all out soon and post some stuff up there that some of you might like to hear about. I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoy telling you about it all.

Are you taking your kayak for a walk in the woods smilies/grin.gif ? Looks like a road or is this the water at the bottom of the lane? Looks like a nice place...No doubt better than the concrete jungle. I loathe them too.

Hi thanks for looking. It's on a wee access track from a very small Hamlet in the wilds of Mhoidart. The track is a forestry track leading down to a wee river that runs into Loch Sheil. smilies/wink.gifThis is where Mike Tomkies the wilderness wildlife writer kept his boat.

Mike Tomkies! I have read all his books, years ago now, some of the best books I read, I think. I envied his life there then. It was a beautiful place when he was there. I hope it still is as wild as it was then. Joel
