| Good Moot by Tony | ||
My first chance to mention the Moot and how great it was to see old friends and make new ones. There were some great skill sharing going on which added a huge amount to what people got out of the event.
I can’t say that the weather was kind to us as it started raining on Sat and was still raining on Monday when we left, I suppose it’s fair to say that it could have been worse, some of the trees that came down in the storm could have landed on me J It was batten down the hatches and hope things would still be there in the morning and luckily they were, I really was expecting my big tarp to get shredded.
I expect that John Fenna is glad he kipped in the Van after seeing what the winds left of the tipi he was trying out, I think it’s likely that he’s not been converted J Saying that Simone and Nick’s tipi (I wonder if that should be Teepee!) stayed up ok so they’re not all bad.
Frustratingly Wales was sunny as we drove over the bridge, most of the time Wales is the home of the rain Gods, they must have had a short break in England (short because it’s been raining here since yesterday) Getting everything off of the Landy on Tue morning was a wet chore, everything was dripping and sodden, yuck.
I have to say that the kids did fantastically well over the weekend, although in such a great environment it’s hard for them to not enjoy themselves, even my 2 year old loved every minute of it and was as happy as can be, even when she was trudging through the rain and wind.
It was great to have the barn, it ended up being the sleeping quarters for a good few (after vacating the area of falling trees) it was home to workshops and the excellent Viking story from Wayland, which I have to say was on of the highlights for me, it was lovely sitting there watching my kids all enthralled by stories of Gods and Giants.
I’m looking forward to the next Moot at the end of July, it’s going to be fantastic.

Sometimes the most important decision is when to change your plans and it was good that people had the barn to fall back to.
It was good to put some more faces to some of the people I have “talked to” on the forum. I think the meets and moots are one of the strong points of this community. The spirit of sharing knowledge and experience creates a superb learning environment and builds a camaraderie that is hard to match.
Thanks to all the team that made the weekend so welcoming and such a success.
