This month, Uruguay. by Graham_S

Well here I am, writing this on a sunny evening in Montevideo.

Yes, graham's out in the world again. It's not particularly Bushcrafty, but it's a lovely country. In a day or so I'll be sailing for the Falkland Islands and chances are fairly high that I'll get to do some whale spotting on the way. fortunatly for you lot I've got a new camera so If I spot any I'll be trying to get some pics up (although it'll depend on the internet access I have on the boat)

Last weekend I managed to go on a picnic to  Tentsmuir Forest with Katy. It was a bit rainy, But I was determined to have a BBQ regardless. Fortunatly for my continued good health, Katy has a sense of humour about these things. I had my group buy firebox and a kelly kettle along with a disposeable BBQ to handle all the cooking duties. A good time was had by all. I had a bit of a chat with the local Forestry Commission Ranger, who came over to see what I was up to. after discussing the weather resisting properties of ventile, and admiring the firebox, She shared some stories about some wild campers from a few weeks ago who were spotted with a porters trolly loaded with beer. the fire service had to be called to deal with their camp fire....

She (the Ranger) seemed like a nice, decent person. I got the impression from her that she had no problem with responsible wild camping (out of sight, out of mind, and leave no trace) but that the Idiots were a constant trial. I may make enquires with Her about a spot of camping when I get back.
