Shave Horses and Whingeing about work by bent-stick

First of all let me say what a good idea this is and I hope people take it up. On the other hand I hope it doesn't detract from the forums because they are a great source of info.

I'm going to try to keep you up to date with what I'm doing.

This weekend I'm desperately trying to get ready for a bowmaking course with Forest Knights on 3rd June. I have ash and elm seasoning up against my bookcase and yesterday I made a shave horse from some 150x47x3000 carcassing timber and 10mm studding. Total cost of materials less that 15 quid (not including the bandsaw blade I trashed recycling some old wood and hitting a couple of screws). Pictures to follow when I have done Mark II which will incorporate lessons learned. I'd like to have at least 3 done by the time we get to the course.

Then I have to get them down to Arundel in a Toyota Avensis...that's going to be another story.

Work is getting to be a bit of pain...we have a go live on Wednesday and the Microsh*te Office Server is not behaving at all well. I've been expecting a call to go in to the office today but it hasn't come yet...I have been warned that we might be doing a ghoster on Tuesday to get everything finished.

I have a phone interview on Wednesday morning. I'm fed up with the continuous under estimating which pushes pressure down the line.

The course went very well. One bow was absolutely finished and shooting. The others were strung and best part tillered but needed some more work as they were pulling a bit to much weight.

We didn't tackle the elm we all worked on ash staves. Elm is great but a bit more demanding to work than ash.

Shameless plug: we are planning another course in October, possibly the first or second weekend.
