I got one in OD and love it. Very comfy and big enough for all my stuff.

I don't have the Sting - but I do have a couple of other Lowe Alpine bags, which I rag during climbing (winter, summer and alpine) and they're pretty damn bomb proof! Thoroughly recommended brand.

I have issue bergans in long and short back, a Sabre 45, karrimor jaguar and a lowe alpine sting. I like the sting a lot. it's comfy, big, durable, but I do prefer the PLCE side pouches, they just feel more robust around the zipper than the stock LA ones.

There's a seller on ebay doing them at the moment a lot cheaper than Field and trek, although used obviously.

Try Endicotts or Military Mart, they have or have had the surplus dutch ones for around £50. I have one, and once you set the back system up as you like it, it is very comfortable, even with around 18k in it. If the pouches are not supplied with it, standard PLCE pouches will fit it, or the Arktis ones sold by Endicotts.
