    can someone tell me some good flies to use on uk river thanks

    It really will depend from river to river and time of season at what level the fish are feeding and what hatches are around.


    For brown trout - try something small and black, perhaps a size 14 Black Gnat or Klinkhamer. If you are fishing nymphs then perhapas a pheasant tail nymph.


    Don't forget that if you do not have an Envoronment Agency game fishing license AND the permission of the land owner, you are illegally poaching. This is taken very seriously.
    Having too many options gives you the option to get it wrong one day.

    Dartmoor navigator has hit it on the head, best fly for the rivers is anything small and black, but for wild trout on my local rivers we go down to 18's and 20's. Presentation on small rivers and streams always comes before flies, you might only get the one shot.
