Default Hard time finding some boot's.

    Hi Guy's.

I am having a hard time finding some decent boots for walking / hunting in UK Size 14, I would rather have them in leather but most of what I can find is tactical / exforces gear and in black, I am after them in Tan or a dark brown and over the ankle style.

Do you have any ideas where I can find them? Price isn't much of a issue I am used to paying large sums of money for my clown sized feet.

Size 14? Have you tried Swan Hunter? Harland & Wolff? Vickers in Barrow?

Yep and Camel Lairds, when I asked where the laces go they pointed at the port holes and said that should do you.

Meindl. German maker of long standing and reputation. I'm on my fourth pair: bloody good boots, if a little old-skool in terms of fit. Fit me though. Hiker and hunter styles. High Street and online. Looks like they do up to Size 15 in half sizes. No affiliation, just a fan.

Hey I am scouse, I would be a genetic abnormality if I didn't have a over sized funny bone... In this case it appears to be in my feet

Oh great! Glad to be useful!

Those Taiga's look very like my current pair, only high top, although mine have the memory foam deal ('MFS'), which is all very excellent if you come across that. Anyway, I really like that lacing system, and that sole is grippy. You get what you pay for here.

Look at Meindl's own website too - www.meindl.de - the page on boot care is refreshingly basic! I like the fact that they're still there manufacturing in Germany where they started. They make funny-looking Bavarian leather clothing too

Oh, and Meindl Sportwax kicks proofing butt, although it will make that finish shiney(ish).

Anyway, maybe you can find something that fits

Is this Bravarian Leather clothing... suitable for family viewing? or am I about to get a education in wobbly things with spikes, ribbons and bows?

I have a pair of what I think is the current army issue desert boots made by Meindl. They aren't waterproof (but that's not the primary requirement in Afghanistan I assume) but they are however very comfortable indeed.
I might have to get some more boots made by them before long. Mine were secondhand (or secondfoot) but pretty much perfect condition.
I'd like some that were water resistant as well though.

Yeah, I think they make boots for the German army; there are quite a few military models in their catalogue. Quite a lot of people feel that Goretex lining does make fabric boots hotter - maybe this is an issue for desert boots, I dunno. My straightforward GTX hiking boots are like breathable wellies, but I haven't worn them anywhere very hot.
