Thread: Knife Handle

    Default Knife Handle

    Hi Hi everyone

A while ago I was doing the washing up and a knife blade fell out of it's handle!!! [I know rubbish cheap kitchen knife set] So I put it up on the 'to do something with later' shelf. Then found a bit of wood and had a go at making a new handle, this is what I came up with.....

the penknife is just for scale

A bit rough yet but with a but of sanding and perhaps some varnish or oiling - not sure which is best - hopefully it'll end up looking nice...

I don't know what to expect but I was surprise by how light it is.

Thanks for the comments, never made a handle before, haven't really done anything with wood apart from chopping it up to put in the aga, so it was nice to do something creative. It took a week or so - at a few min stretches here n there - and it's still nowhere near finished, I really don't have enough time spare

I've got some Dainish oil left over from doing the kitchen work top, so I may rub some of that in when I get it abit smoother
