you need to check the zips on the vulcan I think they do up bottom to top whereas on these side pouches they zip top to bottom. I know these pouches don't fit the Atlas but I don't know about the vulcan

well my vulcan II is on the way so cant really check, but your right these side pockets do zip from top to bottom. I think i remember watching a youtube review on the vulcan the guy unzipped the side pockets by pulling upwards, would that mean the zips on these side pockets would orient the correct way? however I think the vulcan II zips changed from the vulcan I, but not sure!

I was under the impression that the II has the zips the "correct" way around. I have a Vulcan I and had to specifically source upside down zipped pouches.

I think the vulcan I had plce compatible zips i.e. the correct way round. There were exceptions to this with some early versions. Vulcan II has the zips the wrong way round, thereby allowing the integration with the Centurio and the newer mmps kit.
So, in theory your new bag should accept the pockets you have.

With berghaus packs and side pockets you have to consider 3 seperate rucksacks.

The original crusader which the side pockets in the image are from used a different sized zip and the zips are oriented differently from PLCE.

The Vulcan is an updated crusader with the cyclops II back system and the addition of a zip in the base the of the main compartment. Very early Vulcans used the crusader type zips but reverted to PLCE which the Vulcan still uses.

The new crusader uses what berghaus call the MMPS side pouch which uses a zip the same size as PLCE but it's up side down.

Ok so I guess these crusader pouches won't fit a Vulcan II, but PLCE issue bergan side pockets will?

If the rucksack you're on about is a Berghaus Cyclops II Vulcan then yes in all likely hood the issue PLCE side pouches will fit. As will any side pouch with PLCE configured Zips..

It's a Vulcan II, so I guess it would use a Cyclops II back system?

I have made adapters to fit my Vulcan sidepouches to my centurio, buy 4 zips the same size as the ones on the sac and pouches unzip them and zip the halves to the sac/pouches. Then stitch the zips togerther back to back.

    Hope this makes sense......

They did not fit! The zips were up-side down and when I tried to zip the pouch on up-side down, it id not work so I guess they are different zips even though they look the same.
