it's a waterproof, tear resistant foam designed for the inside of fly boxes, works a treat and i've never lost a fly yet :

Very tidy and a handy bit of kit too

Thon foam stuff ? is it treated with some kind of rust inhibitor ? I'm thinking about needles.

    cheers,

Sorry Robbi, we're going a wee bit OT

I was told recently that the same fomes that was traditionally used for these wallets was also used to store needles.
I'd love to know it worked; but I'm chary of ending up ruining good needles. I buy and use, old Victorian and Edwardian ones, much better than most of those made nowadays.
Fomes I can find, and I can strip it out and prep it, but it doesn't always come out as clean and tidy as the stuff Robbi used in his wallets, and it'd be easier to see the needles agin the white

    cheers,
    M

not sure if it's treated with anything but the hooks / flys don't go rusty.

    Toddy, you have a PM

    .......hussifs
Actually most storage mediums for needles in a kit are a bit of a problem. Mostly they're made from cotton or plastic and either attract damp or don't let things dry out, so the needles go rusty

I've just minded that somewhere I have a tiny little leather wallet thing of my mother's meant to hold needles and a card of threads. I'll see if I can find it and post a photo for you to have a looksee.

    cheers,
    M
