Pure luck. A mate let me have a one off handmade sheffield bowie a while ago (another SWAT author). He sent me the magazine as the article reviewing the bowie is in it...was flicking through it idly and saw the young John in "catalogue man" pose....and had to share!

Interestingly enough the longjons only gave up the ghost about 2 years ago...
Equally interesting are the trousers - my own design and manufacture which were polycotton - photo taken in North Wales where I designed gear for Snowdon Clothing and Snowdon clothing did the CMT on my range of waterproof clothing.

Is that a picture from the 70's TV series Survivors by Terry Nation? That woman's face just triggered someonthing in the recesses of my memory. Her name was Abby I believe.

Fine figure of a man there John. Betty just got herself a new pin-up on her wall.

It is - but that was Jenny. Abby was played by the impossibly beautiful Carolyn Seymour

The guy is Dennis Lill - a great actor (also inThe Professionals, Rock Follies, Rumpole of the Bailey etc.).

Thanks BR, It would have bugged me all day not knowing whether I thought that pic was from it or not.

Aha Jenny and Abby, thanks for the clarification. I was in my early teens when that series was on and sadly didn't watch it as often as I could have. I wonder if it's on youtube? I know a lot of series from the 70's didn't make it to archive* "Wings" being a classic example. That was a series about the Air flying corps during WW1. I used to watch that with my dad religiously. Loved it.

    * Least that's the story I heard. I'd stand to be corrected.

Damn... you're reminding me of things I watched as a kid as well... I'd forgotten about 'Wings' til you mentioned it

Another one I used to like watching was Danger UXB... Judy Geeson

The series was not a patch on the book "Survivors" and even better - "Genesis of a Hero"...
Nice to know that Betty apreciates the picture ... I have matured like a good wine ... or is that cheese?

Genesis of a hero is very dark huh? I liked it too

I also have Danger UXB on DVD - another great series. They made some great TV in those days...I guess they had to work harder on the plot rather than effects?

The Proffessionals? The 1966 movie about a mercenary incursion into Mexico in the early 20th century starring (among others) Lee Marvin and Burt Lancaster? Or the tv series of the same decade starring Tony Curtis and Roger Moore?
