    Nice knife John.
The Lurcher skin sheath is a bit hardcore for me though.
It never ceases to surprise me how Moras can be pimped to look so good.

Best looking Mora I've ever seen. Like the unusual sheath as well.

    Good work John.

More fun than function - I would not want to batton with this knife as I am not 100% sure that there are no voids in the handle...
The bolster is proud of both bone and blade at the "grooves" in the bone, which are in line with the edge and the handle is slim even for my grip....
but it is still up to light work - carving, food prep etc
The thonging holes tore through the side of the Lurcher skin in a couple of places when I punched the holes - which is only glued to a thick leather backing (thats how it came) but the sheath still performs its function of holding the knife....
I was after a "primitive look" rather than a fully practical knife (some of my other Mora mods will seriously out perform this one ) and the photos do it more than justice
Having said that - I quite like it and can see me taking it out in the woods with me - but with an axe and saw for the heavy work
I had fun making it though!

I think that is really cool. My harris hawk is cleaning the remains off a deers leg as we speak might have a go at something like that when he is finished.

    Still looks very nice.

I keep looking at it and thinking - That would be a really nice style for a folder. It almost looks like one in the pic with the groove/shadow on the underside of the handle.

John how did you remove the old handle, did you just whittle away with a stanley knife?

Kolrosing works on wood, you want scrimshaw on bone.

Alternatively what I do is carve into the bone and then infill it with a mixture of crushed charcoal and beeswax.

It was one of the wooden ones - I just hit it with a big hammer
Plastic ones I put an axe alongside the blade - and hit the poll with a mallet!
I deconstruct a lot of Moras.....

Ok the wife has said on no account am I allowed to hit a sharp object with another sharp object with the use of a blunt object...

I have said that I will wear my full chainsaw gear to this, still not happy so will do it when she out...

What the eye dont see - the heart dont grieve over!
My wife has no idea of sharps safety (always cutting herself when getting food prepared) so trusts my judgement as I hardly ever cut myself

I tried a bit on scrap bone - I have a lot of practice to get in before I try it on a finished piece....
