Thread: 1000th post giveaway

    Default 1000th post giveaway

I made it to 1000 posts a while ago and completely forgot about the giveaway!

anyways for a competition....i have been trying to come up with my own sigil for a while now for my leatherwork and whatnot and had many failed attempts! was wondering if any of you gifted fiends could help me out?

im after something between a goat and Odin like a simple goat head with one eye. norse/pictish/la tene inspired or something that could possibly have been scrawled on a cave millenia ago. something simple and rustic if you get my meaning

anyways if anyone can offer up some doodles etc i have some goodies to give away

Gauntlet picked up, challenge accepted. I hope I'm not the only one though.

Right I've got an idea. I will try and get it up tommorow. Simple but suits your name on here with the rusticness in mind.

Right I've had some thought and got some options for the missing, whilst still trying to keep the simple cave painting style.
Its got to be either a x or - or / or eye without pupil or circle with / through it or an eye with a x through it. I can try and mock up some of these later if I have time or let me know if you have any ideas how to show it (and I can obviously put a normal eye in the other side).

nice one so far guys. nae too keen on something thats all black as lines are easier to carve into leather and stand out more i reckon. this is the best i could come up with using my retarded drawing skills. its too cartoony for my liking still but you get a rough idea

I'm thinking easy lines to carve, nice simple and flowing. The missing eye is also St Andrews cross.

nae too shabby guys keep them coming! its hard to get my vision right as im a so picky and cant share a brainwave with any of you all i have in my mind is something between the one eyed depiction of odin and a gnarly cave painting goat norse/pictish/la tene styled. ill be at this for years!

I'm hoping shabby means something different in the land of the Scots than it does further south

So lets see if I 've got this right, you're looking for a goat/human head hybrid executed in a hybridised Norse/celtic design with a little neolithic cave painting thrown in ?

    Easy peasy..

Just scribbled these out tonight, inspiration's a bit of a struggle so I went with something stylised and easier to carve into leather and such rather than the neolithic cave painting.

Personally I really like the dreadlocked one at the bottom, but that's just me. Reminds me of The Predator in a way. Hope it's somewhere in the ballpark Hamish.

The one of the right was supposed to be the hoof print doubly up as skull like nose of a human. Oh and that's supposed the be the billygoat's gruff, or beard on the chin. Like I said stylised.

I was going with solid as I assumed you'd get a stamp made but I'll see what I can do as far as simple lines.

harharr good seeing everyone add something to the mix. im especially liking the more primitive style Mountainm has capitalised on just need some upwards/spirally horns or something so its more goat and less ram like. picky i know! but as incentive....the prize is leather...
