Instead it was dropped down on the near side to try to lower the profile and stop some of the airborne ingress ~ dropping the 'beak' at the front was quite effective too.

Once on the ground, the water was less fun ~ and not at all controllable ~ leading to a new game called 'Find a new route!' (And also 'Find a new pitch and relocate to it in a lull* in the rain. * A lull is less, not none! )

Nah, not a patch on the December '08 Meet ... Some pics from it ~

    Communal Area:

Not actually a ditch, the water just went where it wanted to:

Again, not a ditch ~ still water this time.

A ditch with fast flowing water. At the worst the flow was only just fast enough to stop it breaching

The rain this weekend was a pale imitation which, thankfully, managed to catch just one of us out .

EDIT: It took almost two years for the Communal Area to recover from that weekend.

Phil, thanks for this weekend. Strange, this was the first rough close for me since Dec 2008 and it felt like nothing had changed!

I'm sure the mussels tasted as good as they looked. Loved the patriotic set up Martin and thanks for sharing pics as usual, it was a great meet as always.

A few had cot beds which weren't too bad but it was definitely a hammock for me.

    Great pics - cheers!

I can confirm that the mussels were excellent, as I managed to "borrow" a couple.... Many thanks for all whose technical expertise helped a hammock virgin survive a weekend without any collapses (although the first night "stretch" resulted in me gently brushing the floor in the morning). In those conditions hammocking was definitely the way to go!

Re the stoves, they all went pretty well. I was trying out one of the new "Wild Woodgas Stove MK II" http://wildstoves.co.uk/wood-cooking...ood-gas-stove/

Using cat-litter wood-pellets, this little beastie was kept burning for over 20 hours during the weekend, and survived it all admirably. It would burn for about an hour on one load of wood-pellets giving a lovely gasifier swirl which was quite hypnotic (or was that the Spetznaz brandy?) Haven't yet tried it with twigs, although will do so shortly and report back.

Great pictures, glad I wasn't the only one out in it, I was on the deck that night too on another site but just about managed ok in a bed roll.
The mussles do look very good along with the set ups. Ive a pocket stove you can try next time if like.
    Cheers

Yes One did discern a small amount of moisture in the atmosphere over that weekend.

However a good fire and large quantities of Stags Breath, provided all the comforts needed, and a good time was had by all
