Weekend in the bush with my homemade hammock
Some photos of the weekend in the bush.
First time out with my home made tarp and hammock. Had a look at Jays DD hammock and it has 3/4" ish webbing stitched in on the long sides of the hammock , will have to put this on my hammock too.

Nice set up TopKnot, what material did you use for the hammock as I am thinking of making my own as well, I like a challenge do I.

Back to the hammock , the hammock was made from ripstop nylon that i got off ebay . I have just added 1/2" webbing tape to reinforce the sides like the DD one.
I also made these up to (not the rings)

Absolutely TOP job, matey!
Re. stitching webbing along the hammock edge.... I made gathered end hammocks that my lad and I use and sewed velcro along the edge to mate up to mossie netting.... it can create an uncomfy 'bar' behind the knees when you're sitting in it so make sure its not tight when you seam it on thereYour seam-ended hammock looks a MUCH more professional job than mine, I have hammock jealousy now.... nooooooooo!!!

I might begin some mods to my sons Tenth Wonder, velcro mossie net sounds like a great idea... and some rings, thank for the inspiration both
Hmm, Fire-bow and Friction fire stick methods are ones I keep telling myself I will try soon, but a lighter is too easy to carry! ;O) However, when I find a nice chunk of Clematis, I might do this as I can imagine the sense of accomplishent when the flames start-a-lickin'! - Did you manage to ug-make fire-ug?
