Stumbled across this in ASDA last night and have to say its not bad tasting with a mixer. Nice not to have a bottle to dispose of and guess it could be reused. It was £7.50

Seems to be a bit expensive for use in an alcohol stove. Was there nothing in the drinks section?

Stupidity got us into this mess. Why can't it get us out?
Nice find!
I hope it tastes better than a malt out of a Nalgene![]()

????
Why would you put malt in a Nalgene?
If you are that bothered by weight - leave the whisky at home!
And....why would you drink bourbon. Period.? Its blended, its bourbon, you can buy an acceptable malt for less. Just.....why?

I enjoy some bourbons as I do a good whiskey, blended or single malt...I enjoy armagnac and calvados and akvavit; variety is the spice of life really.
I've tried plenty of them. Nast, sweet, perfumed and not a patch on the real thing.
Bourbon is to Whisky what "Harveys Bristol Cream" is to sherry.
Bourbon is like life - a pale imitation of the real thing.

I haven't actually got a clue about whisky, only that Jack Daniels is poop and only tastes decent in coke although I do appreciate a Black Bush on ice, very tasty.

For me a glass of midleton rare is the best whiskey bar none. Its also a blend.

Personally I find alcohol is alot lighter once I've drunk it, therefore I try and drink as much as possible before I go out...
Ah - but this time Red IS right!
JD is only drinkable when all other alkyhol has vanished ... or if it is free!
If you are going to the effort of carrying booze in then make it something worth the effort ... sure you can get slaughtered on cheap booze - but are we in the woods to get pished or to enjoy the finer moments of life? (rhetorical I hope)
Islay Malt, hedgerow gin/vodka hedgerow wine (or a decent vintage red) real ale or organic cider are my prefered refreshments and worth the effort of carrying in in a glass bottle or S/S (or silver) hip flask - special brew, white lightning, JD (or other whisky substitues) only as a last resort

Old Samual is probaly one of the better Supermarket brand Bourbons. Goes well with ginger beer or coke or just neat.
It's not ever so cut and dried. I am a pretty confirmed Malt drinker but a good Bourbon can get the job done. You can't compare apples to oranges saying Bourbon is awful because of JD is like comparing Bells to Ardbeg Corr. But the likes of George T Stagg is another matter .. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-relea...155340915.html
Incidentally am I the only one sitting with a glass of something in my hand thanks to this thread?

I just had a nice spirit made of real ale......Adnams Broadside distilled to 43% spirit...thanks to a "heads up" from EdS. Sat in the cab of a pink Unimog listening to the Grateful Dead.
Gotta love those fly boys![]()
