Default Great couple of hours last night!

    Morning chaps,
Got the kids in bed last night and normally go out Monday nights but the little farts wouldn't settle til nearly 7.30. Stood contemplating for a few minutes whether to bother, looked outside and saw the nice evening so decided to head out with the rapid for a change. Lately the .22 WMR has been 1st out of the cabinet coz the perm is 1000 acres and normally favours the longer shots.

There are 3 areas on the farm that are being hit hard by the bunnies which we need to sort so I got setup on top of a bank where there are lots of holes. The bunnies come from the bank and have been hammering the wheat and from an elevated position gives a great field of view out to about 60 yards.

After just a few minutes (about 8pm) the 1st fella came out for a nosey and bam, down he went. Tagged another couple from this position then decided to move down into the field so I was shooting into the bank. Also wanted to check how many holes and see where the majority were coming from. Got 4 as they emerged from the holes. Unfortunately 1 fell back in and 2 rolled into thick nettles that I was not going after.

Moved around now as the light was failing so I was shooting along the bank prone in the field, which turned out to be a good move. The sun was setting and as I was facing East the extra light meant I shot the last one just before 9.30 without actually using the lamp!!

Made a total of 12 (9 retrieved) in under 2 hrs of actual shooting!! I would have liked to have stayed longer but I was ready for my pit. There's still plenty to sort out though!!

Anyway here's a pic, sorry it's not great We would not normally touch the small ones but we have a job to do here for the boss!!!

    Cheers

You are a very very lucky man to have so much space to shoot. I have to make do with few and far between permission up here.

Cheers guys I seem to have the midas touch when it comes to perms this is just one farm I actually have over 4000 acres in different places! One of which me and my mates are able to wild camp and shoot on!!

Yeah been down Hereward a couple of times but the normal range is not FAC. Again I'm fortunate enough that one of the farms has a purpose built 300 yard range the old owner used to zero on coz he does big game hunting all over the world!!

Sorry I sound like I'm gloating but I am jammy I guess!!!

Occassionally I do a bit of pigeon bashing on 280 acres at Benwick but that may not last as the farmer is retireing.

I know a couple of people personnally which helps but the biggest one I just drove up and asked if anyone shot there. Main thing is be polite, don't wear all the camo and have copies of insurance, fac and a sample permission sheet to show you are not a div. A nice big smile helps and I've found if they like you you're half way there!

Also an idea to try stables and equestrian centers which people forget coz the horses can turn there legs over in the holes. I have 3 I shoot on but they aer better in the winter when there are less people about.

Oh and you need to be lucky!! lol

Superb stuff. There is nothing like dashing out once the kids are in bed.

I also like the kids faces int he morning when you tell them what's for dinner. Sounds like an idyllic spot.
