Default Skinnarland horsehide an wool coat

Anyone wear owt like this in winter? I belive its horse hide leather..sheep wool collar, fully wool lined. Led to belive its 1930-40's possibly earlier.. I can't see ANY weather getting through this

Weighs a ton.. I liken it to summat they would wear in Siberia while smoking cigarettes made from hazel leaves!

Even leather trim inside pockets. To save wear

    Stout collar

    Well stitched, strong backstage

I think it has been shortened?

Only flaw I found is where someone has tried to glue the sheep? Skin down on a loose piece..

Considering the age? I it is remarkable condition and still has original buttons..
Be nice to know if it is Germany or Norwegian construction? Google doesn't offer much help :-(

Hey up mate, you've got your self a reet beauty there mate! I used to collect old pilot A2 jackets and other horse hide/steer hide ones and let me tell you, the one you have there would fetch a pretty penny on ebay. Theirs some people that pay over the odds for ones in bad condition!!

For a new horse hide jacket now your looking at over 500 smackers!!

I can see it being a very affective winter jacket! ...and looking even better once its all distressed!!!

Cheers Pardner :-) I can't see it ever becoming distressed, too rugged.. If I keep it, I might cut it up for a gillet.. I Google skinnarland inreg varum and it has mixed opinion on age and origin

It'd be a shame to cut that up mate.

I think you'd regret it down the line too.

Reyt folks, I'm going to take some decent pics an measures and list any faults, blemishes (only one fault where corner of sheepskin collar has edged away from leather and previous owner has tried a glue)
It was just an enquiry to tempt me, but I don't want to be unfair

I'm proposing to send it on first for approval. If it's not what the prospective buyer thinks is value, they can send it back at their cost, and I'll stand the postage cost for one way.

    Cheers

It's raining, no pics, but had another look at pics I've put up, an reckon they are fair. It's at least 70 years old of bomb proof construction from natural materials, and has at least another 70 left in it. I'll measure it up best I can when I've finished this pipe

Hey Chisller check this out -

    http://steampunk-fs.com/vtg-swedish-...mpunk-1279-95/

I had one of those coats too, absolute beats of a thing. Unlike you though i did chop mine up into pieces and the leather is still in a bag waiting for a project. It had lived in the back of my wardrobe for a better part of 15 years and I never wore it. Having seen the price of that advert above I think i shot myself in the foot dismantling it.

    Ooopsy

Not sure it your coat's the same as the one I linked to but it looks about the same. I stand to be corrected.

That is very similar, one hell of a coat and one hell of a price.
