Another vote for the Aldi's stuff, if you can find it
I've worn a lot of thermal merino and silk over the years, this stuff works very well, and it washes well too
It was about a quarter of the price I usually pay, so that was another bonus. If they do it again, I'm having some more

Bamboo stuff is just rayon. They use the bamboo as a source of cellulose to make the rayon.
It undergoes allsorts of chemical treatments to extract the cellulose.

I have a set from Mountain Warehouse which were pretty cheap & decent quality. At the moment there's quite a lot of Trekmates stuff in TK Maxx - up here anyway. There's also a lot of Merino wool jumpers on the go too. Good luck.

Mrs DHD & I both have merino tops from there, and we both rate them highly. I wore mine for a week long survival course a couple of years ago - and it didn't pong when I got home! It's still going strong. More sensibly, Mrs DHD uses hers all the time for normal stuff like keeping warm.
In your price range too.
And great service from the company! (no affiliation etc)
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication
Good idea to try Field and Trek if you have one near.
If you sign up with Quidco as well( Ask me for a link if you like )
you get 2 or 3% cashback when you pay with a debit card in their store.
They sell HH and icebreaker merino.Usually good prices.
Have a great trip,
Simon

Baa Baa Base layers are a bit cheaper worth a look but the Howies are great. Woolpower stuff is very good to.
