    Default Dormouse nest (and revisited)

    I discovered this last November, amongst the bramble and hawthorn in a wood.


    I was near to where I found it at the weekend so thought I'd take a look.
    Now, I'm assuming it was in use during the summer last year for breeding and it's now served its purpose. I don't think it was a winter hibernation spot.


    The rest of it was on the floor below.
    "Mummy, when I grow up I want to be a bushcrafter."

    If you have the time I'm sure your local Mammal Group or the county biodiversity records centre would like to hear about your find. They could also give you some information if required.

    Funny you should say that, I was asked last week if I would be their field studies officer!

    its a summer nest in winter they hibernate on the ground
