Neil's new chute is off E-bay, £55 with paracord still attached, and in mint condition. Its not a cargo chute.

Thanks everyone for another stonking weekend. Thanks especially to Jack & Neumo for the forging bits/shelter/organising etc.

I think we were lucky with the weather - not a lot of rain (although I did get a bit wet at some point... did need a shower, I suppose).

    Craving vegetables now...

You're welcome mate and it was in deed a good weekend. Got home to thunder and rain, so again the Sussex meet defies the elements.

And thanks to you for the second forge, I'm looking forward to finishing my froe, now to find the angle grinder.

Thank you all for coming and making this weekend another great meet. I really enjoyed it & must make the effort to come on the Friday night from now on. Thanks to Jack for the tarp & the charcoal that kept the forge running for hours. It was good to see the regular crowd, as well as some new faces like SpareX, Bruce, Lee, Beansprout & Co. Hope you enjoyed the weekend & it would be good to see you all again. I had a great time, learned a few things, enjoyed the forging, handled an axe & stared to handle my fore, so all in all it was a good weekend. I am happy & tired after a weekend of good clean living in the woods; well apart from the bacon, beer, sweets etc.. Another great weekend so thanks for coming.

We we were lucky with the weather again, as always & we should look into Luke's message about getting an uncut parachute from the bay (or wherever). I will look into that & get some prices. If people are up for a whip round to get a parachute then it should come to about a £5 each, which I think is a good idea as they are a nice place to be when it rain's. Let us know what you think.

The next meet is on the weekend of the 26th/27th of May & I will get the next meet thread up soon. We were talking about making the theme of the next one Leatherwork & Simon said he may be able to sort out a hide; I am up for getting half a hide with Loenja if you still want to do that. We shall send some PMs & see what we can arrange. For leatherwork we will probably need some better shelter & a few tables or wooden boards to work on; I am sure we can come up with the tools, thread etc.. if we each bring a bit. Hopefully Kepis & Simon can be around to show us some tricks & we can all come away with some new leather bits.

You are most welcome & we enjoyed your company, you fitted in just fine. I have someone's chair & frying pan that got left behind, which I think is your's but am not sure. I can hang on to them until the next meet or we could meet up somewhere if you need the sooner.

Thanks to everyone involved, both the new faces and the old lags! It was a great weekend, even though I stayed anchored to my chair and didn't do a lot (apart from relax)!! It was good to see a lot of new faces, I hope you all come back next time. As mentioned already, we were really lucky with the weather, I only really got rained on when unloading the car. The whip round for a chute is a good idea i think, and a fairly nominal amount for decent shelter from the rain. I'll get some prices for a hide for the next meet too and send some pm's around to those interested. With so many newbies now with new knives a proper sharpening workshop might be an idea for next time too as we are going to have tables , I can bring waterstones and all the gubbins for that too. See you all next month.
    Cheers

    Simon

A most enjoyable weekend, thanks everyone for the good company.
As I was leaving, just a couple of hundred yards down from our site I saw a very large stag sitting down, a great sight was to behold Hugo.

    Hi mate

Would be interested in a leather workshop and learning to sharpen properly. Think I can only do the Saturday next time and won't have the landy, so going to be restricted on gear capacity.

Shouldn't be a problem Jack, Saturday is the main activity day. You can always drop anything for the meet round my place beforehand and I'll bring it for you if you're on the bike.
    Cheers

Cheers mate, but I will have a car, just got a lot of driving to do on the Sunday, so more economical to steal SWMBO car. Doesn't quite have the capacity of the LR especially as the dog box lives in it. Also looks like the bike might still be off the road then. Not looking good, the garage have had it for a week now and the last call I got wasn't a good prognosis.

I'm gutted to have missed this one. A family crisis kept me at home at the last minute (I was packed and ready to go).
Sounds like you all had a good time. I'll do my best to make the next one.

Thanks for making us feel welcome etc, great to meet everyone

We will def try to make the next one. hopefully both nights this time. Me and Mr. Green Giant will enjoy the leatherworking, and we'd be up for putting something towards a hide. We can also bring a table or three (and some more chairs!)
