    Default London Pub Meet 2

Pub Meet 1 complete and went well.

    Successes
    We did it.
    Pub choice worked well.
Having an outside space meant we could hear each other.
Already there are calls for the next one.

    Failures
Recognition didn't work that well. (BCUK badges or similar markers might be better this time).
Didn't get a table next a patio heater.
If it had rained we wouldn't have not had the outside space.

Last one was on Thursday which ruled out Monkey-boy who was the first poster to the last thread. So he gets first call on date and location (but is restricted to Victoria, Waterloo or inside the circle line somewhere).

    Take it away guys..

I take it we are thinking March sometime?
For recognition, how about a bit of hi-vis?

    Lol good luck with that!!!

A smaller pub would have been better as there were a lot of bars and a lot of rooms but good that it was only one way in and out - easier to see people coming and going!

Next time an A4 bushcraft logo for identification!

    I can do Wednesdays.
Saturday would be a big stretch.
Friday and Sunday are definitely out.

When and where are you guys meeting? I can do this Wed (tomorrow) or next Wed 14th after work. I work nr Cannon Street stn/Bank stn, so can do either London Bridge or Victoria.

I'll recognise Monkeyboy, but a marker would be great too.

Monkeyboy needs to set the date, though I think he was waiting for some others to pitch in with answers to his question about days first.

    I can only do mid-weeks.
Best area for me is Waterloo / London Bridge / Borough, but obviously we should spread it around depending what's easiest for various people.
Don't much fancy a Witherspoons personally.

Yeah. I've taken a lead from the Suxxex group here. Anybody who knows about this thread or the previous one can join and subsribe to the group. What the Sussex guy have done in the past is to put a notice up on the group so that the regulars know there is a new meet on,and then they put a meetup thread on the General forum (I assume) so that new people outside the group can come accross it and join in. So the Group is for alerts for regulars that something is on, which can help if you are not on the Forum all the time.

OK. No-one has picked up on Weekends so I'll pitch in with a Wednesdays proposal. I'll also try and take a look at what other pubs are in the immediate vicinity of Victoria. Add your availablity and repost the below. I'll stick a BCUK badge on a baseball cap and that can be starter for recognition.

Alternatively we could put a group buy in for a new design t-shirt
    BCUK
    The Wilderness Connection.

Don't know Victoria area much, but a quick search on BeerInTheEvening reveals the following pubs in the area with Real Ale...

    http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs...&search=search

(Obviously ignore the ones in Victoria Park!)

Never been there, but the Cask and Glass looks a good pick, although it's very small so might not get seats...

    Anyone suggest another good one?

I can't personally recommend any pubs in Victoria.

I'm not a fan of them myself but I think this is the one Monkey Boy is referring to.

14th is ON. We'll work on final pub choice over the next couple of days.

I am going to try and get to Victoria after work to recce some pubs. In the meantime take the venue as the Wetherspoons below, so if I get hit by a bus you still have somewhere to meet.

Try and have a look at the crack and glass if you get chance

I did it's the best of the ones I visited though it is as small as it looks in the picture and it's about 6-8 ft from the bar to the front of the building. If we run with it we have the option of decamping to The Phoenix which is 50 yards away if it gets too cramped.

We are not going to the Wetherspoons/Willow Walk. Two reviews I saw talked of fights and walking by those assertions seemed somehow very credible

Damn. I didn't check this before going and I was about 50 yards away. The website shows it as a restaurant and talks about booking. Sounds like an interesting option have you been there?

I personally quite like this idea, but I am concerned as to how it fits with original invitation especially as this one came together very quickly with a short time to doing it. Last time no-one ate at the pub (I probably should have)and some are on a tighter budget.

So I don't think it is fair to switch to this kind of setup (I'm assuming as it's a restaurant where you have to eat rather than quoff ale). At this short notice. At least not without buy in from everyone. Also based on Previous posts the earliest Monkey Boy is likely to get there is 8pm.

At this point it would be useful if Nunzionuk could provide more info on the setup and everyone else stated a preference for Cask and Glass V this place.

The George covered all these bases well.
