    Default Ferro handle.

Received my ferro rod, striker and shot pot from the gift it on thread thanks to Bare Thrills today
I was thinking if bonding the rod to the shot pot somehow so went to the garage to see what I could muster up.
When down there I remembered I had a couple of 5.56mm shells knocking around so I came up with this.

Nothing much really and the rod nicely fit leaving only the need to drill a hole for the paracord

Like I say, nowt special but it was DIY

Superb mate. Did it need gluing in or was is a friction fit? Ive got 90 of those rods kicking about so i might give a few of them that treatment ready for the old car boot

very nice work, but the only problem is when its winter time the handle get very cold and also you need to watch it for rust, if you are by the sea, and on rainy days, hence the handle is either wood, plastic, antler, etc, etc, not moaning, just annoying for you in the future, talking from experience here my friend.

    Duly noted thanks
Chances are I'll only be a fine weather bushcrafter and I'll keep my eyes open for faults/corrosion as I'm always tinkering with kit.

Could you slip another shell on the other end as a kind of protective cover?

I probably could do but what I would like to do is try and find an actual bullet tip/head and fashion that into a cover. Now in my eyes that would make it look very cool

What diameter ferero rod - I have some 5.56 and 7.62 mm cases and the bullets in them - all inert and legal

I think the rod is 8mm but the casing is from a 5.56
