I have thousands of the seed heads from Great reedmace where I work (The ones that look like a sausage on a stick)
Do these work as a good tinder? if so how do you prepare them?

"Life in the wilderness was much more fundamental and based directly on survival, while in the cities many problems were manufactured by people with too much time on their hands and too few real things to worry about."

Thanks for that!
Pesky common names!

You can just use it as fluff, rather than the whole thing. It tends to "flash" - burns very quickly. SO its best mixed with something that will also catch easily, but burn for a little longer. - I use rosebay willow herb and thistle heads mixed with it. But whatever fluffy stuff you come acros on your wanderings.
Cheers

PS - don't ask me how, but i believe you can make a flour out of the seeds themselves somehow ?
