After spending work and college time being competitive, I think I will emjoy the change and stick with being totally non-competitive for bushcraft! I will leave that job to you testosterone-fuelled lads and observe from my seat by the fire.

However, I am up for shifting firewood, peeling potatoes, and helping out, so put me down for all that stuff Ivan, and maybe, if we are a smallish group, I can help by providing something already preparedl like a simple casserole and a big pile of mash for lunch on saturday to take a bit of the strain off chef, if he is with us this time - give him a bit more drinking time!

Sorry you won't be with us Wolf.

Hi Stuart, welcome aboard ! hopefully you can make head or tail from the directions , a little word of warning , when you arrive at the car parking area , you will have to give me a ring as you wont find the site ! Somebody will then come down and meet you , to show the way , particularly as its likely to be dark .

Also what mobile network are you on ?, as reception is better on some than others, any other questions please feel free to ask , look forward to meeting you .

Actually , valid point by Jon and Adam regarding the competion for the Bahco Folding Saw, so to make it fair for everyone , regardless of when you arrive , the rules are .

    something " Bushcrafty "

Eg.. Carving /Whittling of any description , with brought or supplied wood .

Cordage / Sewing/weaving or doing something fancy with paracord .

Making of shelter / lean to / pot hangers/ cooking pot supports etc etc

Oh and a special one for Jon , Bridge Building !

I think you have the idea now .

The judging panel remains the same , Katie .

    ( no bribing the judge ! )

not even bribing with pink paracord bracelets and other cool stuff? lol

Oh ! Blimey the world is a corrupt place, Mr Savage were you on the panel that has decided the venue for Olympics , World Cups , Questions for Favours , Etc , The little judge you speak of has in the past been spoilt rotten by members of our Bushcraft gang , and i have asked her to be totally neutral and unbiased in her decision . She may have to be removed from the judging panel and replaced by myself, to stop and underhandedness and skulduggery.

    Yours Respectfully.

    Ivan...

PS can i have my bracelet in olive , please ... Oh and i have taken a shine to that jacket you were wearing at the last meet , don't worry i tried it on when you were not looking , fits like a glove ..

My Dear Isambard , as times are hard recession and all , i am fully aware you have had to go back to the tools , so to speak , you, as i recall , on a previous trip were concerned at bank failure at a crossing your family were using and therefore suggested a bridge .

I would be honoured in the name of bank erosion and safe crossing , if you would construct me a bespoke foot bridge , rough dimensions are , approx 6 feet in length , 18 inches wide , with handrail support, in a rustic design i know you can come up with . As for head wear i am sure you can dust one off, and grow suitable sideburns between now and completion .

Base materials ,3 planks , and all other timber will be sourced from site at your request , i will of course organise labour .

Thanks Adam , i like the design of pic 1 , but planking for the base ( health and safety , dear boy ) and much higher hand rails , plus it looks like a dreadful waste of firewood .

Pic 2 , looks like the site of a lottery win , Bridge Over The River Kwai , not the Dean Burn ! and even with Jon's skills , he does only have a weekend , thanks for the research though .

Just an afterthought , is pic 2 the dreadful failure of the new 60m x 40m DD , bridge tarp configuration .

Also isn't it nice when you go off topic , that nobody comes along and takes your shorts down and smacks your legs ?

Are you joining us for the meet Dave? I heard from Al, that he may not be making this one. Does this mean you have to find another shotgun?

Your a stealthy bunch of wood folk, I didn't even know this was going on until Mr Saville himself phoned me today. I'm going to endeavour to make it but work may get in the way!

Would be great to catch up and see you all.

    Hi Ivan,
In responce to your questions my mobile is on the Orange network so hopefully should be ok, I should be arriving between 18:00 and 19:00 so will give you a ring then, Other than my normal field gear is there anything else I should bring that might come in usefull, Beer on the list already!!!

Hi Stuart , unfortunately Orange is the worst network to be on , i know i am Orange aswell ( No jokes you lot ! )

It works but is sporadic , if you can ring where you have reception and , somebody will come and meet you .

If you want to start walking , go out of the double gates , turn left towards the Moor, and keep going , until you get to Ludgate , please dont go on the Moor as you wont find us and we wont find you ! anyway if you get to that point , blow your whistle 6 times ( worst case scenario , signal failure etc ) also if thats not working , climb on top of the wall/gate and look to your left as you face the open Moor and you will probably , hear/smell us .

Sounds much worse than it is ! but in the dark on Dartmoor , no bearings is not nice .

As regards any other gear , don't think so , bearing in mind you have to carry your pack 1.2 km climbing 70 metres in total .

You are going to fit right in as beer is on the list , good man , you cannot bring to much of that, and a band of willing helpers will assist carriage .

OH yeah , decent footwear , as it can be very wet on the way in .

Look forward to meeting you .

    Ivan...

Don't worry we will be aware of your arrival due to times , also seeing as you have got your fern ticket !

Sorry Stuart , if you get to whistle stage , you had better only blow 3 times as you might get rescued !

We could leave a two way radio in the parking area, and have one at camp. Just a thought. Mine have a 6km range (on the open moor), so should be sufficient for this purpose.

Hey Adam , great idea , you judge , as two new members to the site are coming , so are you saying hide one in the car parking area , keep one on your person , i will pm both parties concerned , they can get directions on arrival , then leave it for the other party ? or shall we have possibly the most dangerous game of hide and seek you could imagine ?

No ! they are bringing beer !! back to plan A , maybe ?

Who goes you decide , i am getting confused , you know me i am happy to personally escort them both to site , subject to them being able to make contact !
    HELP !!

Don't worry I have a cunning plan , Paul thinks he has outsmarted me , because I told him I was going to hide in the woods , he has intimated that he will stay by the beer stash , hoping to flush me out when I get thirsty !

But , I am going to give him a personalised hi vis jacket , and give him the very important job of car park attendant , if its cold I will provide a donkey jacket , and kick him in the shin , so he has the obligatory limp , as befits the position , so he can sit in the car parking area all afternoon with a feeling of importance .

I will be supping beer at my leisure , up on site .

    Jobs a goodun !

    Good plan eh ! ?
